Real Madrid has officially announced the homecoming of Brahim Diaz, who spent three years on loan at AC Milan. The 23-year-old midfielder has committed his future to the club until June 30, 2027.
Diaz initially joined Real Madrid from Manchester City in January 2019 but struggled to get regular playing time for about a year and a half. Consequently, he was loaned out to AC Milan in the summer of 2020 for a season.
Upon his return, he rejoined the Rossoneri on a two-year loan deal, contributing to their Serie A title victory in 2021/22 and their journey to the UEFA Champions League semi-final in 2022/23.
Milan were interested in securing Diaz’s permanent transfer due to his vital role at San Siro. However, Real Madrid successfully brought him back to the club and extended his contract until 2027.

“Real Madrid CF announces that on Tuesday, June 13, at 12:00 at Real Madrid City, the presentation ceremony for Brahim Díaz will take place, who will return as a player for our club until June 30, 2027, after his loan for three seasons at AC Milan,” the club statement read.
“At this stage he has become a fundamental player in the historic Italian team. With Brahim, AC Milan has once again been Serie A champion in 2022 and has reached the Champions League semifinals this season.
“Brahim Diaz has been a Real Madrid player since January 2019 and has already won 1 League and 1 Spanish Super Cup with our club, before being loaned to AC Milan in September 2020. Following the presentation ceremony, Brahim Díaz will appear before the media.”
With his return, Diaz becomes the third new addition to Real Madrid for the summer transfer window. Earlier this week, Borussia Dortmund confirmed Jude Bellingham’s transfer to Santiago Bernabeu, followed by Real Madrid’s announcement of the acquisition of Fran Garcia.
