Real Madrid have officially announced that striker Karim Benzema will depart from the club this summer.
There had been uncertainty surrounding the 35-year-old’s future over the past week due to interest from Saudi Arabia.
Initially, Benzema seemed inclined to stay and see out his contract which expires next summer rather than make the move to the Middle East.
However, it appears that further discussions with Real Madrid have resulted in an agreement for him to leave the club this summer.
The club made the announcement via their website where they wrote:
“Real Madrid CF and our captain Karim Benzema have agreed to end his brilliant and unforgettable period as a player for our club.
