Real Madrid have officially announced that Marco Asensio will be leaving the club upon the expiration of his contract.

Asensio, who previously played for Mallorca, has amassed a total of 285 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 61 goals.

Throughout his tenure, he secured three La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues, and various other domestic and European accolades.

“Real Madrid would like to express its gratitude and affection to Marco Asensio, a player who has defended our badge and our colours for seven seasons,” the club’s statement read.

“As madridistas we will never forget his career and his outstanding conduct during all this time. Real Madrid is and will always be his home, and we wish him and all his family the best of luck in this new chapter in his career.”

The likelihood of Asensio signing with PSG is widely acknowledged. The news of his imminent transfer to the Parc des Princes follows closely after PSG boss Christophe Galtier confirmed that Lionel Messi will be leaving the Ligue 1 champions at the end of his current contract this summer.

Real Madrid are looking to replace the departing Asensio with a recall of Brahim Diaz who is currently on loan at AC Milan.
