AC Milan forward Rafael Leao has put an end to speculation surrounding his future by officially extending his contract with the Italian club.
Chelsea had previously been linked with the talented Portuguese forward during various transfer windows, while Arsenal and Manchester United were also rumored to be keeping an eye on his situation.
However, with his contract initially set to expire in one year, Leao has now committed himself to AC Milan until the summer of 2028.
Expressing his delight, Leao stated to the media at the Milan training ground that he is extremely happy with the outcome. He had been eager to secure the contract extension, and now it has been successfully accomplished.
“I am very happy,” he told reporters. “It’s something I wanted to do and now it is done. We hope to do great things together in future.

“We reached an agreement and I am very happy. Now our focus goes to the Verona game and then next season when we want to win many important things.”
Leao, who joined Milan from Lille in 2019, has been a standout performer over the past couple of seasons. His contributions were instrumental in securing the Serie A title in 2022, and he played a significant role in guiding the Rossoneri to the semi-finals of the Champions League earlier this year.
According to reports from Italy, it is believed that Leao has agreed to a release clause worth £150 million as part of his new contract. This release clause, however, will only become active for a limited period in July.
