Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier has confirmed that Lionel Messi will be leaving the club this summer when his contract expires.
Since his arrival from Barcelona in 2021, Messi has scored 32 goals and provided 35 assists in 74 matches for the French champions.
However, PSG fans have become restless with the Argentine World Cup winner, and they expressed their dissatisfaction by whistling him in several games notably following the team’s elimination from the Champions League in the round of 16 against Bayern Munich.
In recent weeks, Messi has been linked with a potential return to Barcelona or a move to Inter Miami in the United States. However, at this stage, it is believed that the Saudi Pro League is the most likely destination for him.

Regardless, Messi’s departure from Paris Saint-Germain has been confirmed by his own manager. Speaking ahead of PSG’s final match of the season at home to Clermont Foot on Saturday Galtier said:
“I had the privilege of coaching the best player in the history of football. This will be his last match at the Parc des Princes, and I hope that he will receive the warmest of welcomes.
“This year, he has been an important part of the team, always available. I don’t think any of the comments or criticisms are justified. He’s always been there for the team. It’s been a great privilege to accompany him throughout the season.”
