In a remarkable conclusion to the season, Jamal Musiala’s late goal secured Bayern Munich their 11th consecutive Bundesliga title.
Borussia Dortmund faltered, settling for a 2-2 draw against Mainz at home, leaving them dependent on a significant favor from Cologne, who were hosting Thomas Tuchel’s team.
Cologne appeared poised to grant Dortmund’s wish, with the match still tied as it approached the final stages. However, in the 89th minute, Musiala found the back of the net, ultimately clinching the title for Bayern.
As the campaign reached its final round of fixtures, the title race rested in Bayern’s hands. Dortmund held a two-point lead over Bayern following the latter’s defeat to RB Leipzig the previous week.
Although Dortmund had won 11 consecutive home matches, a comfortable victory was unlikely, as demonstrated during this encounter. They knew that a victory against Mainz at home would secure the title, regardless of Bayern’s result against Cologne.

Cutting inside onto his right foot, he unleashed a magnificent finish into the far corner, granting Bayern a 2-1 lead. With the final whistle blowing in Cologne, the players gathered around a phone on the pitch, just in time to witness Niklas Sule equalize for Dortmund in the 95th minute.
However, there was no time for a winning goal, as Bayern’s dominance in German football survived an enormous scare.
