Erling Haaland has achieved a remarkable feat in his debut season at Manchester City, winning two prestigious awards in the Premier League.
On the eve of the final day of the 2022-23 campaign, the prolific Norwegian striker was named Player of the Season, followed by the Young Player award just hours later. This makes him the first player ever to accomplish such a double in the same year.
Haaland faced tough competition from fellow players Kevin De Bruyne, Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka, and Kieran Trippier for the main award.
The young player category included nominees such as Saka, Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, Alexis Mac Allister, Moises Caicedo, Sven Botman, and Alexander Isak.
These accolades are well-deserved for Haaland, who has had an incredible debut season in English football after joining Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund for £51 million last summer.
The 22-year-old has consistently broken scoring records, netting an impressive 36 goals in just 35 league games and a staggering 52 goals in 51 matches across all competitions. His remarkable performances include scoring 12 goals in 10 Champions League matches.

Haaland has become the first player from the English top-flight to score 50 or more goals in a single season in 92 years. His exceptional achievements have propelled Manchester City, under the leadership of Pep Guardiola, to the brink of potentially matching the historic trophy Treble achieved by the Manchester United heroes of 1998-99.
Recently, City overcame an eight-point deficit to clinch their fifth league title in six seasons, with one game remaining. They are also set to face their rivals, Manchester United, in the FA Cup final at Wembley next Saturday.
Additionally, they will compete against Inter Milan in the Champions League final in Istanbul on June 10, following a dominant victory over holders Real Madrid in the semi-finals. The league season will conclude with a match against Brentford on Sunday.
Haaland is expected to sweep the forthcoming PFA awards and is highly favored to win this year’s Ballon d’Or, solidifying his status as one of the best players in the world.
