Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo smashed the Ligue 1 record for earliest red card received as he was sent off just nine seconds into the match.
The former Barcelona centre-back was sent off in the opening seconds of their Ligue 1 clash against Angers for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity.
Todibo brought down Angers forward Abdallah Sima as he charged towards goal. Referee Bastien Dechepy swiftly awarded a free-kick and immediately produced a red card for the 22-year-old.
His early dismissal is a record for the fastest red card in the French top-flight. It not only breaks the record in France, but it sits among the fastest in football history.
The red card is Todibo’s second red card already this season, as he picked up another in Nice’s 1-0 defeat to Clermont Foot last month.
The defender may have prevented an obvious goalscoring opportunity, but his sending off ultimately cost his team as they were at a numerical disadvantage so early in the game.
