Bundesliga club Augsburg couldn’t help but take a dig at Barcelona after pulling off a shock win over German champions Bayern Munich.
Augsburg stunned onlookers with a spirited 1-0 win over Bayern on Saturday with a solitary goal from Mergim Berisha causing damage.
The win over Bayern was Augsburg’s first home win of the season and only their second win in 16 meetings against their opponents.
Following the win, the Bundesliga club couldn’t help but poke fun at Barcelona who were unable to defeat Bayern in the Champions League despite their rival’s obvious struggles.
The club took to Twitter to tweet: “Biggest club in Europe?” alongside a picture of the results of the matches between themselves and Bayern and Barcelona and Bayern.

This implied that if Bayern defeated Barcelona in Europe and Augsburg defeated Bayern, could it now translate to meaning Augsburg can now be considered the biggest club in Europe?
The loss to Augsburg will no doubt worry Bayern Munich as their dismal league form persists. The Bavarians have now gone four domestic games without a win, drawing in three consecutive games before their defeat to Augsburg.
While Bayern remain impeccable in Europe, their league form has put them in unfamiliar territory as they remain in fourth place with 12 points after seven games.
