Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has been named the Premier League and League Managers’ Association manager of the season.
Klopp guided his team to win both the League Cup and FA Cup, also managing to reach the Champions League final and finishing second in the Premier League standings.
Liverpool missed out on the title after finishing just a point below Manchester City with 92 points. They came closest to a quadruple bid than any other English side have come.
Reflecting on his side’s season so far, Klopp was appreciative of his coaching staff while he received the award.
“It is a great honour and it was an insane season,” he said. “The last matchday when only two games were meaningless and, in the rest, we all played for absolutely everything.
“It was a bit nervy, it wasn’t the best outcome for us, but we are already over it. And when you win a prize like this you are either a genius, or you have the best coaching staff in the world – I am here with four of my coaching staff, and they know how much I appreciate them.”
Klopp was also the recipient of the Sir Alex Ferguson award which is voted for by all the managers across all the divisions.

The award was handed to Klopp by Sir Alex himself and the former Manchester United manager while announcing it said:
“This is agony, it’s absolute agony… Jurgen Klopp.”
“This being voted for by my colleagues is obviously most important prize you can get,” Klopp said.
“I don’t believe in individual prizes in football generally, it is a team sport and I would be nothing without these boys there. It is all about what we can do together and what we did together.”
Liverpool still have the chance to secure one more trophy as they face Real Madrid in the Champions League final. Klopp’s side will be seeking revenge for their 2018 final defeat against Los Blancos where the Spanish giants ran out 3-1 winners.
