Kylian Mbappe has signed a new three-year contract renewal with PSG which will keep him at the club until 2025.
The French forward is set to become the world’s highest-paid footballer after signing the deal that will see him earn almost £1m a week in wages.
Mbappe whose contract was to expire at the end of the season, was close to leaving the club on a free transfer and reportedly already had a deal in place with Real Madrid. However, the 23-year-old later changed his mind after PSG improved the terms to their contract renewal proposal.
The deal was confirmed just before PSG took on Metz in their final game of the season, with Mbappe announcing his decision to stay to the adoring crowd at the Parc des Princes.
“I would like to announce that I have chosen to extend my contract at Paris Saint-Germain, and of course I am delighted,” Mbappe said.
“I am convinced that here I can continue to grow at a club that provides everything necessary to perform at the highest level.
“I am also delighted to continue to play in France, the country where I was born, where I have grown up and where I have made my name.

“I would like to thank the President, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, for his trust, his understanding and his patience.
“I would also like to thank all the fans of Paris Saint-Germain, both in France and around the world, for their support, especially in recent months. Together, side by side and ambitious, we will make magic in Paris.”
In addition to a substantial wage increase, other terms included in his renewal contract would see Mbappe make decisions at PSG effectively being more than a player.
He will be consulted when the club wants to make personnel changes in staff and also have a say on the recruitment process.
According to reports, Mbappe will also be involved in the signings and selling of players at PSG.
Mbappe capped off his contract renewal with a hat-trick in the game against Metz as PSG ran out 5-0 winners.
