Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has lauded his club for the acquisition of Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland and stated that the signing was a good sign for the future.
City captured the £51m signing of Haaland with both clubs agreeing terms for the striker to move to the Premier League in the summer.
Guardiola’s side have been in search of a prominent striker for a while with the club not hiding their interest in Tottenham forward Harry Kane.
However, City were unable to secure the services of the Englishman and were forced to look elsewhere.
The Manchester club will feel compensated with the signing of Haaland who is young, full of potential and seems to be at the start of his career.
Guardiola echoed the sentiment after his side’s 5-1 win over Wolves on Wednesday, stating that Haaland’s signing was one for the future.
“It is a decision for the club to make, a good sign for the future,” he told Sky Sports.
“He can come for many, many years hopefully and I am pretty sure he will adapt perfectly to our team but for next season.

“The players make you a good manager. He is an incredible young talent, perfect age. I am pretty sure we are going to help him settle as best possible.”
Haaland comes to the team to occupy a striker role but Guardiola says despite the signing, the player won’t be burdened with the responsibility of having to be the sole source of the team’s goals.
“Definitely, he can help us score more. It is not about that. In the end it is about winning games,” he added.
“I never thought that our defensive situation depends on the central defender and I never thought that the goals we score depend on the striker. He has scored a lot of goals in his career and we are going to try to help him through the game, having more chances to score goals.
“We are never going to give him the responsibility to score goals. We have to win games and if we are going to win games we need everyone doing it the best way, arriving as much as possible. After, of course, if we arrive there, with the quality that we believe he has, we can do it.”
