AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho shed tears of joy as his team defeated Leicester City to progress to the inaugural Europa Conference League final.
The Italians defeated the Foxes 1-0 at home and 2-1 on aggregate to progress to the finals where they will face Feyenoord.
A solitary first half goal by Tammy Abraham was enough to secure the win and a place in the Conference League final for Mourinho who is now the first manager to reach the final of every major European competition.
The Portuguese was captured on camera shedding tears after his side’s hard-fought victory over Brendan Rodgers side.
“I am very emotional. This for us is our Champions League,” Mourinho told the media after the match.
“When you work in Rome, live in Rome and breathe Rome, you breathe this club because it is the real club of the city.
“I felt from day one it is huge, but no victories and not many finals. The history is not related to the social dimension of the club.

“We managed to build an OK team that grew step by step so we could beat a Premier League [team]. Of course, I have had bigger moments than this but I am not feeling for myself, I am feeling for the people and my players.”
With the Conference League win, Mourinho has also become the first coach to reach a UEFA Final with four different clubs; Porto, Inter, Manchester United and Roma.
“I think our performance was extraordinary, others might see it differently, but when your goalkeeper makes two saves over 120 minutes against a Premier League side with so much attacking quality, it means we’ve done something good.
“The lads deserve this, we have three Serie A games left to end as well as possible. We’ve had a fantastic trajectory to reach the final, we dropped points in Serie A to achieve that, but now we are in the Final and we want to win.”
