Celta Vigo Forward Santi Mina has been sentenced to four years in prison having been found guilty of sexual abuse.
Mina who was charged with offences of sexual abuse and sexual assault, was found guilty of the former but acquitted of the latter according to online publication AS.
In addition to the prison sentence, the player has also been slapped with a 50,000 euros fine which will be paid to the victim, and a restraining order of 500 meters for 12 years.
The defence representing Mina are set to appeal the judgement as their plea during the trial is that the victim consented to the sexual activity.
The events of the incident reportedly occurred in 2017 in Mojácar and the verdict is passed five years later.

Spanish La Liga club Celta Vigo had promised to take a tough stance on the outcome of the proceedings but will assume the player innocent until proven guilty.
Hence, the player has continued to be featured in games even during the course of the trial.
However, upon confirmation of the verdict, the player has been suspended by the club with immediate effect.
