Real Madrid secured their 35th La Liga title with four games left to spare after a 4-0 victory against Espanyol at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Los Blancos only needed a point to attain an unassailable lead over second placed Sevilla and seal the title but instead put on a show to grab a fifth successive win.
Goals by Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema were added to a first half Rodrygo Goes brace in an emphatic victory by Carlo Ancelotti’s men.
The win took them 17 points clear at the top and effectively sealed the title.
Real Madrid have been the side to beat in La Liga this season. Los Blancos have remained top of the table since matchday three and have not wavered ever since.
The win over Espanyol was their 25th of the campaign, drawing six and losing just three times.
Real Madrid also boast of the best attack in the league having scored 71 goals. Their defensive record of 29 goals conceded is only bettered by Sevilla.

The La Liga title is Real Madrid’s second trophy of the season after defeating Athletic Club to win the Supercopa de Espana back in January.
Unfortunately, Los Blancos crashed out of the Copa del Rey against the same opponents, however, they have a chance to land another silverware if they can overturn a first leg 4-3 semi-final deficit against Manchester City.
By winning La Liga with Real Madrid, Ancelotti became the first manager to win a league title in each of Europe’s top five leagues. He now has two trophies since his return to the Bernabeu in the summer.
