Sadio Mane was on target for Liverpool in their 2-0 win over Villarreal in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final hence equalling a record held by Chelsea legend Didier Drogba.
Mane scored his 14th knockout goal in the Champions League to be on par with Drogba as the African players with the most knockout goals.
The goal was Mane’s fourth Champions League goal of the season and 23rd overall.

Mane could well add to his tally and overtake Drogba to become the outright top scoring African in the knockout stages. He would need just one goal to do that and luckily for him, he would have the opportunity to do so in the second leg of the semi-final.
Both Mane and Drogba have a Champions League title each with the Chelsea striker winning it in 2012 while the Liverpool forward clinched his in 2019.
