Former Manchester United player Wayne Rooney has expressed his belief that Paul Pogba should leave the club.
Pogba’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season and contract talks between the player and the club have reportedly stalled.
The Frenchman is unwilling to sign a new contract with all indications pointing that he could be on the move to another club in the summer.
Rooney has given his take on the issue stating that it’s probably best for both parties if Pogba leaves Manchester United.
He stated that the Frenchman has not impressed at the club and is a whole different player with his country.
“I think it’s got to the point now where it’s probably better if he [Pogba] moves on,” Rooney told Sky Sports.
“If Paul is honest with himself, he’s probably not had the impact he would have liked since he returned.
“I watch him play for France and it’s a completely different player. His ability, his vision, control of the game is there in every game for France.

“It hasn’t quite worked for him at Manchester United and I think there’s a few players they need to let go.”
Asked why he feels Pogba has struggled in a United shirt, Rooney added: “There hasn’t been a settled manager since Alex Ferguson. So whoever comes in, they (the board) need to give him time to build up relationships with players.”
Rooney also backed PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino as the best managerial candidate for Man United claiming he would be a better appointment than Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag.
“For managers now, they need time to put their blueprint on the club. If you give him [Pochettino] time he’d do well.
“He knows how to work with top class players and young players, and I think you need to get that blend right because they can’t afford to fail again.”
