Al-Hilal and Super Eagles forward Odion Ighalo scored a first half hat-trick in his club’s win over Al-Ahli Saudi on Friday.
Ighalo was instrumental as Al-Hilal defeated Saudi Pro League rivals Al-Ahli in a 4-2 win at the MRSOOL Park.
The Nigeria international opened the scoring for the home side in as early as the 11th minute to put his side in front.
Ighalo soon doubled his tally just after the half-hour mark to further increase his side’s advantage.
The 32-year-old was not done scoring though as he added a third in stoppage time of the first half, grabbing his first hat-trick in Al-Hilal colours.
With the hat-trick, Ighalo continues his blistering form which has seen him score eight goals in his last seven appearances for Al-Hilal in all competitions.
It is no wonder Super Eagles Technical Adviser Augustine Eguavoen has named Ighalo in his provisional 30-man list for the playoffs of the 2022 FIFA World Cup against Ghana.
Ighalo missed the AFCON 2021 tournament despite being called up due to a disagreement between his former club and the NFF.
His form however cannot be questioned as he has been a revelation for Al-Hilal since his move to the club in January.
Ighalo played 84 minutes against Al-Ahli before being substituted on the night. Another goal from teammate Moussa Marega put the icing on top for Al-Hilal.
They maintained a comfortable win despite shipping two second half goals from their visitors.
