Robert Lewandowski grabbed a hat-trick in an emphatic home victory for Bayern Munich against RB Salzburg.
The Bundesliga giants overcame a sluggish first leg performance to completely dismantle their opponents in a 7-1 win in the second leg of the Champions League on Tuesday night.
A hat-trick from Lewandowski, a brace from Thomas Muller and goals from Serge Gnabry and Leroy Sane ensured that Bayern progressed to the quarter finals of the competition by an 8-2 aggregate scoreline.
Both sides had played a 1-1 draw in the previous fixture, effectively pushing the tie decider to the second leg.
There were no doubts about who would progress to the next round as Bayern completely bamboozled their visitors who played with far less quality than they did in the first leg.
Salzburg came undone early, conceding a 12th minute penalty and giving Lewandowski the chance to put Bayern in front.
Moments later, Lewandowski was on target again converting from the spot after VAR awarded a second penalty to Bayern.
Salzburg hadn’t recovered from the second goal by Bayern before they were hit by a third from Lewandowski.
The Polish international capitalised on a defensive error to tap into an empty net and get his hat-trick.

Bayern had time to add a fourth goal before half time through Gnabry who latched on to a pass from Kingsley Coman.
In the second half, things got from bad to worse for the Austrian giants as their misery was further compounded by a fifth goal by Muller.
The visitors managed to grab a consolation goal late in the game via a superb strike from Maurits Kjaergaard.
However, the goal was rendered completely useless as even later goals by Muller and Sane completed the rout for Bayern.
Bayern have now advanced into the quarter-finals, a feat they have achieved in back to back seasons.
