West Ham defender Kurt Zouma was mocked with a “cats lives matter” banner in his side’s match against Liverpool at Anfield.
A banner carrying “cats lives matter” was flown overhead at Anfield by a plane in a mockery of Zouma who was caught on video assaulting his cat.
The phrase is obviously a play on the phrase “black lives matter” used as a mantra in the combat against racism.
It seems to suggest that just as human lives matter, the lives of animals such as cats too matter.
The former Chelsea defender continues to be a subject of ridicule weeks after the incident which saw him fined by his club West Ham.
Zouma received widespread condemnation for the incident and was also stripped of his Adidas sponsorship and his cats taken away.
While the defender has most likely moved on from the incident, as his club have after David Moyes confirmed he had been punished enough with the fine, some Liverpool fans have not.

In addition to the “cats lives matter” message flown overhead, Zouma was constantly booed by the Liverpool supporters at Anfield.
Cat inflatables and signs were held up and chants of cat songs were sang in the stands for majority of the game which ended in a 1-0 win for Liverpool.
The centre-back has since apologised for his actions and promised a recurrence of the incident will never happen.
