“I didn’t change my name and will continue to carry my name as given by my parents, Clarence Seedorf! I’m sending all my love to everyone in the world.”
Seedorf is well known as the only player in UEFA Champions League history to have won the competition with three different clubs.
The 45-year-old won four UEFA Champions League titles (in 1995 with Ajax, in 1998 with Real Madrid, in 2003 and 2007 with AC Milan), one La Liga title with Real Madrid in 1997 and two Serie A titles with AC Milan in 2004 and 2011 through his illustrious career.
He also managed 87 caps for the Dutch national team where he took part in three UEFA European Football Championships (1996, 2000, 2004) and the 1998 FIFA World Cup, reaching the semi-finals of the latter three tournaments.

After his retirement, Seedorf took up a few managerial roles which includes managing AC Milan and the Cameroon national team.
He hasn’t been back to management since being sacked by Cameroon after a disappointing 2019 Africa Cup of Nations where Cameroon were eliminated by Nigeria in the round of sixteen.
Seedorf’s wife Sophia who is understood to have played an integral part in his decision to covert to Islam, wrote on Instagram:
“I’m very happy and proud to be part of this special and beautiful moment of my love @clarenceseedorf joining the Muslim family. Welcome and may you continue to be blessed and inspire the world. Love you.”
Before his announcement of converting to Islam, Seedorf has been forming partnerships with Muslim athletes.
In 2021, Seedorf joined former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov who is regarded as one of the most prominent Muslim athletes in recent decades, to launch the Seedorf Khabib Performance Club.
It is a football academy that was said would use a “unique training methodology” that fuses football and mixed martial arts.
