The Premier League big boys got the job done in the Tuesday fixtures of the FA Cup Fifth Round, well at least most of them anyway.
Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Tottenham were all on show as they took on teams from lower divisions.
Man City took on Peterborough, Crystal Palace played Stoke and Tottenham played Middlesbrough.
While Man City and Crystal Palace cruised to expected wins in regular time, Tottenham were dragged into extra time by their Championship opponents after a goalless draw in regular time.
Antonio Conte’s men were soon undone by the perseverance of their hosts when they fell behind in extra time and couldn’t do anything to turn the tie around.
Here is a short recap of how it went down on Tuesday night:
Peterborough 0-2 Manchester City
Bottom of the Championship table and battling relegation, the hosts could not have had a greater opposition than Pep Guardiola’s team who are currently top of the Premier League.
However, Peterborough were not deterred and were determined to take the fight to the opposition as best as they could.
This was obvious as the Championship side played well in the first half as they stifled their visitors, limiting them to zero shots on target.
However, their plan went down hill in the second half as City’s quality proved too much for them to handle.
Goals by Riyad Mahrez and Jack Grealish were enough to condemn Peterborough to a fifth round FA Cup exit.
It also means that six-time winners Manchester City have another chance at silverware as they progress to the quarter finals.
Crystal Palace 2-1 Stoke
The Eagles had to work hard for their victory against Stoke in the fixture at Selhurst Park.
Patrick Vieira’s side took the lead in the second half through AFCON winner Cheikhou Kouyate but were pegged back five minutes later by Josh Tymon.

However, the Eagles had the last laugh with a late goal by Jairo Riedewald proving very costly for the visitors.
They may have been a bit lucky but Crystal Palace are through to the FA Cup quarter finals.
Middlesbrough 1-0 Tottenham
Perhaps the shock of the night came when Middlesbrough knocked out Spurs in extra time after initially playing a goalless draw in regular time.
Fresh from their penalty shootout win against Manchester United in the previous fixture, the home side found themselves as underdogs once again against Conte’s men.
The Championship side didnt play like underdogs though as they had more possession, created more and had the better chances.
Harry Kane thought he had put his side in front but was denied by a marginal offside call.
With neither side managing a breakthrough in regular time, the tie was forced into extra time where extra time substitute Joshua Coburn fired his side into the lead.
Spurs came up with no response of their own as they crashed out of the competition, extending their days without a trophy to 5,120.
Today’s FA Cup fixtures
Chelsea will be the only Premier League side playing a lower division opponent when they face Luton.
