Nigeria international Victor Osimhen scored a late goal for Napoli as they managed to salvage a point in the 1-1 draw against Cagliari.
Introduced in the second half, Osimhen scored in the 87th minute to spare his side’s blushes after Cagliari had taken the lead minutes into the second half through Gaston Pereiro.
The goal was the 11th in all competitions for Osimhen and his seventh in 16 Serie A appearances this season for Napoli.
Speaking after the match, Napoli coach said his team didn’t deserve the equaliser and that the hosts were the much better side and deserved to win.
“It was a complicated game for us, Cagliari deserved more. In fact, we deserved something less,” Spalletti said, per Football Italia.
“We never took the game into our own hands, even though we had more possession. They wanted to play this game here and we wanted to play another.
“We have to be happy with the result because it happens to everyone after these Europa League games. We did too little in terms of quality.

“Don’t say it’s everyone any more, every time it happens in two days we lose 4-5 players. It was good of Osimhen to be available at the last second, he was at risk of not being in the game.”
With the result, Napoli move level on points with Inter Milan with 54 points, missing out on the opportunity to leapfrog their rivals into second place.
Napoli will now turn their sights to the return leg of their Europa League playoff match against Barcelona.
The Italians drew 1-1 with the Spanish giants in the first leg at the Camp Nou and will be hoping to win on Thursday when they meet in Naples.
