PSG defeated Real Madrid in the Champions League by a narrow 1-0 margin with Kylian Mbappe causing the damage deep into stoppage time.
Les Parisiens played host to 13-time European champions Real Madrid on Tuesday night when both sides met for the first leg of the round of 16.
The Ligue 1 outfit came out on top courtesy of a vastly important goal by, ironically, the Spanish side’s top transfer target – Kylian Mbappe.
Mbappe scored in the 94th minute to put his side ahead and give them the advantage going into the second leg.
PSG were the better side on the night, creating more and better chances than their counterparts.
Lionel Messi had earlier had the chance to put the hosts ahead via a penalty in the second half. The former Barcelona man stepped up to take the penalty after Mbappe was hacked down by Carvajal in the box.
However, Messi fell short as he was denied by a wonderful save by Thibaut Courtois from 12 yards out.
Just when it appeared the tie would end goalless, Mbappe struck after a brilliant individual display on the left wing to snatch the win for the home side at the death.
The 23-year-old was set up with a brilliant back-heel from Neymar who was making his first appearance after being sidelined for weeks with an ankle injury.
Speaking after the match Mbappe told Canal Plus: “How to ignore the context? It’s easy, you have to play football. We ask too many questions, we say too many things.
“We talk about PSG and Real, two big clubs but I’m a PSG player, I’m always very happy.
“I said I was going to give it my all. We had to show it. I did it a first time, it will have to be shown a second time at the Bernabeu.”

The PSG star also revealed that he was yet to decide his future and that the match would not have an influence on where he plays next season.
“This game to influence my future? No – I’ve not decided, I give my best and then we will see what happens next season.”
It is heavily mooted that Mbappe could be on his way to Real Madrid in the summer and the Champions League outing was the perfect opportunity for him to showcase exactly what they were getting.
The forward will be out of contract in the summer after rejecting several proposals for a contract extension from PSG.
The Frenchman continues to dazzle and prove decisive when it matters most for his side. If this match was his exhibition, he definitely stole the show.
Mbappe’s goal was his 13th goal in as many Champions League appearances for PSG. He now has a total tally of 32 Champions League goals in 53 games, providing 19 assists in that period as well.
Mbappe could well add to his Champions League tally when he faces Real Madrid again in the second leg at the Bernabeu on March 9.
