Chelsea are reportedly planning a fresh transfer bid to land Sevilla defender Jules Kounde after failing to do so in August.

Multiple reports claim that Chelsea have made Jules Kounde their top transfer target in their shopping list for the forthcoming summer transfer window.

Making Kounde their top target this time means they will do everything possible to lure the France international to West London.

The West London club first made an attempt to land the 23-year-old back in August but failed due to their inability to agree on a fee with Sevilla.

This time around, it is unclear whether Sevilla will allow him move away from Spain because he’s one of their key men or maybe a higher bid could make them part with the player.

Sevilla asked Chelsea for a transfer fee believed to be around €65/70 million for the defender.

The 23-year-old is a highly rated defender in Spain. He has made 25 appearances so far this season in all competitions scoring one goal. Kounde also featured once for France in last Summer’s Euro 2020 tournament.

Chelsea cannot allow this deal to collapse this time around giving the stalling of contract talks between the club and defenders Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

The contracts of both defenders are set to expire at the end of the season and extension talks have stalled in recent months due to disagreement in wage demands.

Both players have been on top of their game for Chelsea since the arrival of Thomas Tuchel.

However the club is unwilling to meet their wage demands, the main reason why there is still delay in discussing and signing a new contract.

Whether the Blues will meet their demands or not is still unclear. This could be the reason why they are pushing hard to lure Kounde to the bridge.

There is no doubt that the defender will help bolster Chelsea’s defensive options if they are able to secure his signature.
