Manchester United boss, Ralf Rangnick has claimed that the players are suffering a lack of confidence and have been mentally affected by the frequent draws.
The criticism comes after United were held to a 1-1 draw by Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The Red Devils have had to endure a run of poor results recently after failing to secure the win against Southampton in the weekend despite leading at half time.
It is worrying that Man United have played draws in six games since Ralf Rangnick took over and in five of them United have scored first.
This means they more often than not give up their lead in games and ultimately drop points.
Speaking ahead of United’s mid week game against Brighton, Rangnick admitted that the players were mentally affected by the numerous draws.
“It is pretty obvious if you are 1-0 up in 11 out of 13 games and you win half of them and in three consecutive games you concede an equaliser then it also affects the minds of the players.
“They think they should be 2-0 up or 3-0 up and it is 1-1. It affects the players. We have to be more effective to score the second and third goal and kill the game off. But if it doesn’t happen then we have to be disciplined.

“You can understand that it affects the confidence of the players. The only thing we can do is speak to the players one by one and explain to them why.
“It’s clear the players are getting it. It started with Aston Villa and since then the players feel and understand the job. They now need to do it sustainably.
“The first half over the last couple of weeks has been very good. We didn’t concede a single goal. The next step is to raise our level physically, tactically, mentally. It was too easy for other teams to score against us and also our own mistakes that we made let the other teams score.”
Manchester United currently sit on fifth position in the Premier league after a chance to move to fourth slipped passed them with their latest draw.
They’ve racked up 40 points in 24 games in the Premier League so far this season and with 14 games left, all hope for a top four finish may not be lost.
Tottenham Hotspur who are fellow contenders for a Champions League spot, endured an embarrassing 2-0 home defeat to Wolves to also hinder their chances of a top four finish.
Arsenal on the other hand, gained momentum with a narrow 1-0 victory over Wolves.
United will have another big test on Tuesday night as they welcome Brighton to Old Trafford.
