Super Eagles star Moses Simon scored a fantastic free kick goal for Nantes on Sunday as the Ligue 1 side defeated Reims.
Simon scored the only goal of game as Nantes ran out 1-0 winners, bagging the much needed three points.
Nantes had been in good form coming into the game, winning three of their last four matches. The only match they failed to win was a narrow 1-0 defeat to Strasbourg.
Given their form, they were the more confident side and the favourites to get the job done against Reims who sit 14th in the Ligue 1 standings.
It therefore came as no surprise when Moses Simon put the hosts in front early in the first half.
The pacy winger came up with a moment of brilliance for his side to sink their opponents in the 17th minute of the match.
The free kick resulted after Reims player Yunis Abdelhamid was sent off for a harsh tackle on Fabio just outside the box.
Simon was then tasked to take the free kick which he placed inside the left side of the net and beyond the Reims goalkeeper.

Being a goal and a man up, Nantes were calm enough to hold on to their lead but couldn’t add to their goal tally.
Simon created some chances in the game but couldn’t influence the game further and was substituted in the 73rd minute.
With the win, Nantes climb to ninth in the Ligue 1 table with 35 points after 24 matches. They are currently two points away from a European spot and will continue to remain hopeful till the end of the season.

The 26-year-old was a menace at the left wing, scoring and providing an assist in Nigeria’s 3-1 win against Sudan.
He continues to show how worthy he is of a starting place for the Super Eagles ahead of their double-legged World Cup qualifiers playoffs against Ghana in March.
Simon seems to have his place locked down though given his form. He also seems to be a favourite of Super Eagles technical director Augustine Eguavoen who has immense trust in him.
In fact, Simon has attributed his Super Eagles resurgence on the tactical nous of Eguavoen as against that of former head coach Gernot Rohr.
Speaking after a brilliant individual display against Egypt in the AFCON, Simon revealed he was back to his best because of Eguavoen.
โOf course, It was my best performance in the last two years. You know we changed the coach and, of course, the tactics. So every coach has his own mentality and how he impacts players,โ he said.
โWith the previous coach, I played on his instructions, but the current coach gives the freedom and allows us to bring our style of play at our clubs.โ
Eguavoen and the newly appointed Emmanuel Amuneke will be hoping Simon continues his form to help Nigeria qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.
