The final round of fixtures of the 2021 AFCON group stages are underway with Group C being the latest to feature.
Group C comprises of Morocco, Gabon, Comoros and Ghana, all of which had a fair chance at qualification going into the game.
Ghana vs Comoros
It was a dramatic encounter between the sides when they faced off in the final game of the group stage. Both sides went into the tie knowing only a win could keep their hopes of remaining in the competition alive.
Tournament debutants Comoros drew first blood early after kick off, stunning the Black Stars in the 4th minute with a fine goal by El Fardou Ben.
With quarter of an hour played, Ghana only made things worse for themselves when they had their captain Andre Ayew sent off for a needless challenge on the Comoros goalkeeper.
Comoros used their numerical advantage by doubling their lead in the second half via Ahmed Mogni.
However, the Black Stars were not done yet. As if reminded that their qualification hinged on a positive result, Ghana somehow fought back from two goals down to equalise with two quick goals from Richmond Boakye and Alexander Djiku.
But it was not to be as Mogni grabbed his second of the game to put his country in front in the closing stages of the game.
Ghana were unable to find their way back into the game and the match ended in a 3-2 defeat for them.

Gabon vs Morocco
Morocco went into the game having already qualified but needed a point to seal top spot with Gabon being able to go top with a win.
The Panthers were first on the scoresheet as Jim Allevinah got on the end of a nice lobbed pass from Jean-Noel Amonome.
However, they undid their hard work in the second half when they gave away a careless penalty which Sofiane Boufal converted.
Gabon soon found themselves ahead again when a botched clearance by Aguerd found the back of his own net.
Minutes later, Morocco made amends and equalled the scores through a fantastic freekick goal by Achraf Hakimi.
At the end, the spoils were shared with both sides securing a point.
Implications of the games on 2021 AFCON Group C
Morocco’s draw with Gabon means the former finish as Group C winners with seven points while the latter finish as runners-up with five points.
