Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel set a record as his side defeated Tottenham 1-0 in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final tie, progressing to the finals via a 3-0 aggregate victory.
Chelsea booked their place in the final of the EFL Cup after a commanding performance against their London rivals on Wednesday night.
With the win, Tuchel has landed the record of being the first Chelsea manager to lead the club to the finals of the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Champions League.
The Blues went into the tie with a 2-0 advantage in the first leg at Stamford Bridge giving Spurs a mountain to climb in the second leg.
Tuchel’s men added to their advantage on the night through Antonio Rudiger’s headed goal in the first half, piling pressure on Antonio Conte’s men.
Spurs were, however, devoid of ideas and unable to keep up with Chelsea, failing to score when they needed the goals.
At the end, Chelsea ran out 3-0 aggregate winners to advance as the first finalists of the 2021/2022 Carabao Cup.

Speaking to the media after the game, Chelsea boss Tuchel expressed his delight to advance to the finals, stating that was the plan all along.
When asked about reaching three finals so early as a Chelsea boss, Tuchel said: “Good, because that was the target.
“When you go to the semi-final, of course, everybody wants to get to the final. We are very happy because Wembley is waiting, full house, cup final, this is where you want to be as footballers and coaches.
“This was the target and now we are there. Hard work and two good matches were needed and we did the job.”
This is Chelsea’s first League Cup final appearance since 2019. They will be aiming to win the competition for the first time since 2015.
The feat means Tuchel now holds the record of being the first Chelsea manager in history to lead the club to the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup finals, achieving that in just 350 days after his first game in charge.
Chelsea will face the winner of the match between Liverpool and Arsenal in the final at Wembley on February 27.
