Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has slammed reports suggesting there is a rift between the players and new interim manager Ralf Rangnick.

The rumours claim some of the Manchester United players are unhappy with the way Rangnick sets them out to play and the squad he selects but Rashford has spoken out against them.

Despite losing only one of the six games he has been in charge of since taking over from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, there have been reports that Rangnick has already lost the dressing room at Man United.

It is alleged that the manager preferred a certain crop of players while others who thought they would be given the opportunity to play under the new management were left disappointed with the lack of game-time.

Rashford also berated himself over his recent performances on the pitch stating that he was determined to improve his game and prove his worth to the club.

“We’ve all been disappointed with recent performances and we’ve been as disappointed with the news coverage questioning our commitment to not only the manager and the coaching staff but the club,” Rashford said in a statement he posted on Twitter on Saturday.

“I have endless respect for both and I’m looking forward to bettering my game under the staff… I’m not sulking, I’m not unhappy.

“Am I disappointed in some recent performances? Of course I am. I’m my own biggest critic. It’s been a tough start but I am determined to prove my worth. My dedication and my desire should never have been in question. I love this club.”

Rashford came on as a sub when Manchester United lost their last match 1-0 against Wolves, handing their visitors a first win at Old Trafford in the Premier League and condemning Rangnick to his first defeat.

However, it’s not just the performances of the players that have come into question by critics but also their body language on the pitch.

Some of the players have been accused of not being committed enough to give their best for the club.

With the transfer window open, rumours that Rangnick would be looking to bolster his squad are rife.

The manager would no doubt be looking to recruit quality players that would help materialise his preferred style of play. So far, no player has been signed.

Manchester United will be hoping to go back to winning ways when they face Aston Villa in the FA Cup match-up on Monday.
