Real Madrid face Alcoyano, a team they know very well in their first Copa del Rey fixture on Wednesday night at the Estadio El Collao.
Revenge would be on their minds as Los Blancos face the side that knocked them out of the competition last season. The hosts, a third-tier side, registered a famous 2-1 victory in extra time at this same venue last year and will be hoping to frustrate Carlo Ancelotti’s men once again.
Given the tier divide, the 13-time European champions go into the fixture as overwhelming favourites despite losing their previous match.
Los Blancos were stunned to a 1-0 defeat by Getafe in their first match of the year. It was the only match they had lost in three months though.

Alcoyano on the other hand knocked out La Liga side Levante on penalties in the previous round. Just like Madrid, they go into the game following a 1-0 defeat in the league against Linense.
Their form overall haven’t been great either as they have lost three of their last four fixtures, conceding seven goals. This is why it’s very likely that they fall prey to Madrid who have been the most prolific team in La Liga this season.
Ancelotti’s men have only been prevented from scoring on four occasions this season. However, despite Madrid’s potential to score goals, a low-scoring game might be expected in this clash given that six of Real Madrid’s last seven matches in all competitions have seen under 2.5 goals.
Los Blancos are expected to make several changes to the side, giving a chance to the fringe players like Mariano Diaz, Isco and the likes to impress.
VERDICT
We are backing a straight win for Real Madrid against Alcoyano.
