In today’s edition of Pundit Daily Digest, Zlatan out of Liverpool clash with injury, Barca humbled at the Camp Nou, Man United lose to Young Boys and more.
It’s another edition of Pundit Daily Digest and it promises to be as entertaining as ever. Let’s take a look at the trendiest football news from around the world.
1. Same old Barcelona as Bayern win at the Camp Nou
Barcelona were humbled 3-0 at the Camp Nou by Bayern Munich in Tuesday night’s Champions League tie.
Thomas Muller scored in the first half while Lewandowski rounded off the tie by scoring a brace.
The hosts struggled to get any firm hold on the match. It seemed they had already accepted their fate from the beginning and were thoroughly dominated by the visitors.
The defeat means that the Catalan side have now lost three consecutive home games in European competition for the first time in their entire history.
Bayern go top of Group E standings with three points while Barcelona are rooted to the bottom with zero points.
2. 10-man Manchester United fall to Young Boys
It was a horrible night for Manchester United who were defeated 2-1 by Young Boys in Switzerland.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men took the lead early in the first half courtesy of Cristiano Ronaldo but soon went a man down when Aaron Wan-Bissaka was sent off for a reckless challenge.
The hosts completed a second half comeback in the dying minute to grab maximum points against United after an apparent meltdown by the visitors.

3. Lukaku steals the show at Stamford Bridge in Zenit win
Chelsea secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Zenit St Petersburg courtesy of a lone goal by Romelu Lukaku.
The Blues didn’t find the tie easy as their visitors sat deep to frustrate their attacking efforts.
However, the deadlock was broken in the second half when Lukaku rose highest to connect with a cross from Cesar Azpilicueta to score the only goal of the game.
The Belgian now has four goals in all competitions for Thomas Tuchel’s men in four games so far this season.

4. Juventus grab first win of the season in Malmo thrashing
Juventus secured their first win of the season with a 3-0 victory over Malmo in their opening Champions League fixture.
It was a one-sided affair for the visitors who scored all their goals in the first half.
Defender Alex Sandro put the Bianconeri ahead in the 23rd minute via a header in the Malmo box.
Paulo Dybala then converted a spot kick just before halftime which ensued when Nielsen was adjudged to have fouled Alvaro Morata in the box.
A quick-fire third goal was bagged by Morata in extra time to put Massimiliano Allegri’s men in complete control of the tie.
Neither side could score in the second half although the visitors had a few chances but couldn’t convert them.
The win puts Juve joint top of Group H together with Chelsea with three points.
5. Zlatan ruled out of Liverpool clash with injury
AC Milan have confirmed that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has picked up an injury and will hence be sidelined for the Champions League clash against Liverpool.
According to reports, the 39-year-old is being rested as a precaution after feeling pain in his Achilles tendon during training on Tuesday morning.
Ibrahimovic returned from four months out with a knee injury on Sunday, scoring in Milan’s 2-0 victory against Lazio.
The Swede signed a contract extension in April that will see him remain at Milan until the end of the 2021/22 season.
There’s no doubt Zlatan will be a big miss for Milan against Liverpool but hopefully the injury is not too severe and he can be back in the pitch in no time.
