1. Mourinho Marks Landmark Game With Win

AS Roma boss Jose Mourinho capped off a landmark 1000th managerial game with a hard-fought victory against Sassuolo on Sunday night.

The Portuguese’s side first went ahead through Cristante in the first half. However, they were soon pegged back via a Djuricic equaliser.

Roma who have won all their previous league games so far, needed an extra time goal to ensure they kept up their perfect start to the season.

The win takes them top of the Serie A table on goal difference having scored more goals than AC Milan and Napoli who also have three wins in their three league matches.

It was Mourinho’s fifth official game in charge in all competitions since taking over at the helm of the Italian side this summer.

In the 1000 games of his managerial career, Mourinho has won 640 games, drawn 198 and lost only 162, putting him at a 64 per cent win rate.

2. Salah Sets Record In Leeds Win

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah scored in the 3-0 win against Leeds on Sunday at Elland Road to take his tally of Premier League goals to 100.

The Egyptian King is only the second African player to achieve that landmark behind Didier Drogba and 30th overall.

Salah also set the record in the fifth fastest time (162 appearances) amongst the 30 players, with only Alan Shearer (124), Harry Kane (141), Sergio Aguero (147) and Thierry Henry (160) reaching the milestone in quicker time.

The goal was Salah’s third of the season with only Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes and West Ham’s Michail Antonio having more (four each).

3. “Ronaldo Won’t Play Every Game” – Solskjaer

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo will not play every game for the club, stating that he would like to manage the forward’s minutes.

Ronaldo proved why he should be a starter as he was quickly off the mark in his second debut, scoring a brace in the 4-1 win against Newcastle.

However, despite his obvious attacking ability, his manager says he will not play every game as he looks to manage the fitness of the 36-year-old.

“The thing with Cristiano is that he looks after himself so much so I know he will recover quickly and he has had a pre-season,” Ole said.

“Of course there is a game on Tuesday (against Young Boys). We will see what we do. But no, it’s not impossible to leave him out. He is 36, Mason [Greenwood] is 19, so it’s the same, I have to manage his minutes, and I have to manage a 36-year-old’s minutes as well.”

4. Liverpool Win Marred By Harvey Elliott Injury

Liverpool starlet Harvey Elliott needed to be stretchered off after a horror injury in the 3-0 victory against Leeds.

The 18-year-old suffered a serious ankle injury as a result of a two-footed tackle from Leeds centre-back Pascal Struijk.

While Struijk was shown a straight red card by referee Craig Pawson, Elliott required extensive medical attention from the medical staff on the scene before he was removed from the pitch.

Speaking after the match, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp revealed that Elliott had dislocated his ankle and that he was taken to the hospital where the extent of the injury.

5. Benzema Scores Hat-trick In Madrid Comeback Victory

Real Madrid put five goals past visitors Celta Vigo in the side’s 5-2 victory on Sunday night at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Karim Benzema scored a hat-trick that sandwiched goals from Vinicius Jr and new summer signing Eduardo Camavinga.

It was their first game of the season at the Santiago Bernabeu having played three straight games away from home and the hosts were looking to make an impression.

However, it was far from a routine win by Los Blancos as they had to fight back twice against their visitors.

Celta shocked Ancelotti’s men by taking the lead via Santi Mina inside three minutes of the game but Benzema soon restored parity moments later.

The visitors found themselves ahead again with Cervi at the half hour mark making sure they were in front at the interval.

However, it was a completely different game in the second half as Madrid bamboozled Celta by scoring four unreplied goals to grab maximum points.

The win takes Real Madrid joint-top of the La Liga table with Valencia and Atletico Madrid.
