Liverpool have announced that defender Virgil van Dijk has signed a new long-term contract extension at the club.
Van Dijk penned a new contract that would keep him at the club until the summer of 2025. He joins other first-team regulars like Alisson, Fabinho and Trent Alexander-Arnold in signing new deals at Anfield.
The defender missed the majority of last season with a serious knee injury he picked up against Merseyside neighbours Everton.
He was a huge miss for Jurgen Klopp as his side were unable to successfully defend the Premier League title last season.
However, van Dijk has now recovered from the injury and has committed his future to the club ahead of the new season.

“All the hard work we’ve put in so far continues and I am looking forward to what the future brings together with Liverpool. I’m delighted, very happy and proud,” Van Dijk said.
“Since day one when I joined the club, I felt so much appreciation from the fans and from my teammates and the staff, that I could be a very important member of this football club.
“It has been going well; unfortunately last season for me personally has been a season to forget, to learn from and take with me, but I have enjoyed my time here and will keep enjoying it in the next couple of years altogether with all of you.”
The Netherlands international has made 130 appearances in all competitions, scoring 13 goals, for the Reds since his arrival.
In addition to the Premier League title, van Dijk has won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup with Liverpool.
Liverpool travel to Norwich for their Premier League opener at Carrow Road on Saturday.
