Chelsea have announced the signing of Romelu Lukaku from Inter for a reported fee of £97.5m. He has penned a five-year contract with the Blues.
The announcement was eminent and everyone around Chelsea football club and the fans have been waiting for this moment to come.
Chelsea and Inter were reported to have agreed on a fee for the transfer of Romelu Lukaku to Stamford Bridge earlier in the week which the announcement was delayed due to Lukaku traveling to Monaco to renew his contract with his agent.
The 28-year-old is expected to reshape the striking options at Stamford Bridge alongside Timo Werner who has been misfiring since his arrival from Leipzig.
Lukaku is regarded as one of the most prolific strikers currently in football and has been able to prove himself in different leagues including the Premier League and Serie A.
He first signed for Chelsea from Anderlecht in 2011. During his first spell at the Bridge, he didn’t impress before he was sold out to Everton where he banged 87 goals in 152 games.
Lukaku later signed for Manchester United in 2017 where he made 96 appearances and scored 42 goals.
Whenhhe moved to Inter, he helped them to their first league title in 11 years, scoring 24 goals last season.
Lukaku has not been absent on the international stage as he has played a major role in Belgium’s recent exploits.
The forward was also part of the Belgian Euro 2020 squad that got to the quarter final. He has 64 goals in 98 games for the national team.

Speaking after the official announcement, Lukaku told Chelsea via their official website:
“I’m happy and blessed to be back at this wonderful club. It’s been a long journey for me: I came here as a kid who had a lot to learn, now I’m coming back with a lot of experience and more mature.
“The relationship I have with this club means so much to me, as you know. I have supported Chelsea as a kid and now to be back and try to help them win more titles is an amazing feeling.
“Since I left Chelsea, it’s been a long journey with a lot of ups and downs, but these experiences made me strong and the challenge is to try to help the team win some more trophies. I can’t wait to get started and to help the club achieve more success.”
There’s no doubt that Lukaku is a great signing for Chelsea as they will be aiming for several titles this season.
