Ossie Ardiles says that the pressure is on Mauricio Pochettino to deliver all the available silverware with PSG’s acquisition of Lionel Messi.
Osvaldo Ardiles often referred to in the UK as Ossie Ardiles Was a former Spurs midfielder and also part of the Argentina National team who won the FIFA World Cup in 1972. He was also a PSG player from 1982-1983.
Ardiles believes that Messi will thrive in PSG given the level of players at the club and the presence of his Argentina teammates, Angel Di Maria, Leonardo Paredes and Mauro Icardi.
He said it is a good thing to have many Argentines at the club with vast experience across Europe. Icardi has played in Italy, Angel Di Maria has played in Spain and England and Lionel Messi has been in Spain before his big move to the French side.
The Argentina legend feels that Mauricio Pochettino should be the coach to get the best out of Messi at this stage since there won’t be any barrier between them.
Pochettino is also Argentinian and also from the same hometown as Messi, Rosario, so communication between the coach and the player will be very effective without glitches.

Ardiles said in the interview:
“Mauricio Pochettino is under a lot of pressure of course, but Mauricio is used to pressure, he will like that.
“On the other hand, he is in an enviable position. He’s in charge of a team that has, not all of the best players in the world but a big, big amount.”
“When you think about the three guys up front, it’s frightening. It’s a very big challenge for Mauricio but I have a lot of confidence in him, He’s a great Manager.
“So what will be expected from him is not just to win the Champions League, but of course to win the League in France, the Cup, everything. He has to win everything.”
With the addition of Messi to their Squad, all eyes will be on the manager and the PSG squad to deliver both domestically and across Europe. The attention will now be bigger than ever and the expectations, higher than ever for PSG.
