Roma Lead Race To Sign Tammy Abraham

AS Roma are currently leading the race to sign out of favour Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham according to multiple reports.

The reports also claim that a fee of £34m has been agreed between Chelsea and Roma for Abraham transfer to Italy.

The deal is however yet to be finalised as the player is reportedly weighing his options with Arsenal also serious contenders for his signature.

Roma’s proposition is said to be an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy but the player may favour remaining in London and making a switch to Arsenal instead.

Roma now managed by former Chelsea and Manchester United manager, Jose Mourinho, are keen on revamping the current squad to tenaciously compete with other teams for titles.

Mourinho is known for his coaching prowess and has been able to prove himself in different leagues around the world including the Premier League and La Liga.

Having already completed the signing of Eldor Shomurodov last month, Mourinho will be aiming to make an impact with Roma.

The club is reportedly set to lose striker Edin Dzeko amidst interest from Inter Milan. The Serie A champions are looking for a replacement for Romelu Lukaku who is on the verge of signing for Chelsea.

This is no doubt the reason Roma are trying to sign Tammy Abraham to serve as Dzeko’s replacement.

Abraham started his career at the Chelsea academy. He joined Aston Villa in 2018 on loan where he performed excellently.

Due to his form at Villa Park, the England international returned to the Bridge during Frank Lampard’s reign as Blues manager.

Abraham was also part of Lampard’s team when Chelsea were given a transfer ban for two seasons. However, he fell out of favour at Stamford Bridge following the arrival of Thomas Tuchel who gave him several chances to prove himself but failed to impress.

Despite falling out of favour, the 23-year-old ended last season as Chelsea’s joint top scorer with 12 goals.

With Abraham’s age, there’s no doubt that he will be a great signing for Roma and there’s still room for improvement.
