Chelsea Have £85m Lukaku Bid Rejected

As a result of the inability of Chelsea to secure the signature of primary transfer target Erling Haaland, they have now turned to Inter Milan striker, Romelu Lukaku as a possible alternative to the Norwegian.

Lukaku now appears to be the number one summer transfer target by Chelsea according to reports. All attention has been shifted to the Belgium star after plans to sign Haaland failed repeatedly.

Lukaku who previously played under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea as a youngster managed just 15 appearances for the Blues without scoring a goal.

The Belgian linked up with Mourinho for a second time at Manchester United where he scored 42 goals.

Currently, Lukaku is seen as one of the finest strikers in football right now helping Inter Milan clinch the Serie A title last season, scoring 64 goals in 95 appearances for the club.

Talks have been initiated between Chelsea and Inter and according to Sky Sports. A bid believed to be around £85 million plus Marcus Alonso has been presented but was blatantly rejected by the Italian outfit. They have also claimed that Lukaku will not be sold this summer.

But Chelsea are not giving up for now as Lukaku’s agent is reported to say that a deal is still possible between both clubs if the correct evaluation of the player is met.

Lukaku was close to a return to Chelsea in July 2017 but opted to join Manchester United for £75m. Inter signed him from United for £73m two years later.

The 28-year-old striker, being in his prime is considered a quality striker. He currently earns £200,000-a-week at the San Siro and Chelsea would not have any problem meeting that weekly wage if he eventually signs for the Blues.

There’s no element of doubt that if Chelsea can secure his signature, he would be an excellent addition to Thomas Tuchel’s side to reinforce his striking options.

But the big question now is, will Inter allow their star striker to leave? Can Chelsea secure the services of Lukaku? Let us know your expectations in the comments section.
