Former Chelsea forward, Andriy Shevchenko has left his job as Ukraine head coach.
The 44-year-old who led the Ukraine national team to the quarter-finals of the Euro 2020 made the announcement on his Instagram account on Sunday.
The former Blues forward oversaw 52 matches as Ukraine head coach including the five games played during the Euro 2020 before they were eventually knocked out by England in the quarter-finals.
Speaking about leaving his role as Ukraine boss he wrote on his Instagram account;
‘My contract with the Ukrainian Football Association has come to an end. I spent five years with the national team. It was hard work that proved that we are capable of playing modern football.
‘I am grateful to the president and the executive committee of the UAF for the opportunity to work with the Ukrainian national team.
‘I am thankful for every player, every person who helped and was involved in the team,’ the former striker added.
‘Many thanks to the fans for all their support and criticism. Together, we managed to show that our football can be competitive, productive and exciting.’

Shevchenko, during his playing career with the Blues made 111 appearances and scored 48 goals for Chelsea winning one League cup in 2007.
During his time at AC Milan, he won a number of titles including the Champions League, the Scudetto, the Italian Super Cup and Italian Cup.
Shevchenko was also five times Ukraine Champion with Dynamo Kiev in 94/95, 95/96, 96/97, 97/98 and 98/99.
He also won the award for Ukrainian footballer of the year six times and won the Ballon d’Or in 2004.
With the experience gained so far, there’s no doubt that Shevchenko will have more coaching jobs going forward.
