Lille secured the French Super Cup as they defeated Mauricio Pochettino’s PSG 1-0 on Sunday night.
The French Super Cup is the contest between the Ligue 1 champions and the winners of the Coupe de France.
The match which took place at the Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv, Israel, saw the French Champions Lille defeat PSG by a lone goal to secure the trophy for the first time in their history after failing to do so in 1955 and 2011.
PSG had won the Trophee des Champions for the past eight seasons running back to 2012 before that run was halted by Lille.
Lille changed their manager after the end of the season with former Guingamp boss Jocelyn Gourvennec replacing Christophe Galtier. The new boss has now got off to the perfect start with a trophy in his first official match.
His counterpart Pochettino was without star forwards Kylian Mbappe and Neymar but still managed to field a relatively experienced side with Achraf Hakimi, Ander Herrera and Mauro Icardi.

Julian Draxler and Burak Yilmaz both had early opportunities but it was the strike by Xeka that made the difference in the game.
Xeka collected Yilmaz’s pass and drilled a rising strike beyond Keylor Navas on the stroke of half time.
New summer signing Georginio Wijnaldum came in as a second-half substitute for PSG. The Netherlands captain almost had an immediate impact when he teed up Icardi but the striker’s finish was ruled out for offside.
With the win, Lille are the seventh club to lift the French Super Cup after PSG (10), Lyon (7), Bordeaux, Marseille, Monaco and Nantes (each 2). It is the first time a club other than PSG won the trophy since 2012 (Lyon v Montpellier).
