The managing director of Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, Hans-Joachim Watzke, has reiterated the club’s stance on the Haaland transfer speculations.
There have been nonstop Haaland transfer rumours over the course of the transfer window with reports linking the prolific Norwegian striker to Chelsea and a host of other European clubs.
Most recent is the reported interest of reigning Champions League winners Chelsea who were said to have prepared a bid worth around €175 million for the player.
Watzke has however reemphasised that the forward is not for sale this summer and the club has no intention of sanctioning a sale. He said Dortmund will keep both Haaland and Julian Brandt for the forthcoming season.
“It is pretty clear to me that Erling Haaland will stay at Dortmund, Julian Brandt will remain. I tend to say that every day but no one really seems to listen as I hear something new every week.
“To us, it is pretty clear that we will have Julian Brandt for the upcoming season. I hope that he will have a great season with us this year. I hope that he will be able to exploit his strong potential and tap into more of the talent that he clearly has.
“Julian is a great guy and I really like him. If he has a strong season then it will be great for all of us. It would never have made sense to give him away. It was never the topic of discussion of anyone here at Dortmund.”

Future sporting director Sebastian Kehl, who will replace Michael Zorc in that role next year was also quizzed by Bild on whether Haaland will form part of Dortmund’s plans for the 2021-2022 season, he has said:
“Yes. In the conversations with Mino Raiola about the [Donyell] Malen transfer, I did not have the feeling that we would have to meet again soon about Erling, and we have already emphasised 1000 times that we do not want to give him up.”
Speaking in another interview about the reported €175m offer, Zorc said:
“That offer does not exist and we do not expect it to arrive. When these numbers circulated in the media I guess certain people were still dreaming about the Super League. We do not have to sell Erling.”
Dortmund are reportedly financially stable following the sale of Jadon Sancho to Manchester United earlier this month. So the club is not under any pressure to have to sell any of their stars.
The player himself has been quizzed concerning the transfer. When asked about the reported €175 million rumour, the Haaland said:
“Before yesterday I haven’t spoken with my agent for one month. So you have the answer. I hope it’s only rumours because it’s a lot of money for a person.
“First of all, I have three years left on my contract. I’m enjoying my time here. But of course, the trophy (last season’s German Cup) was important because that’s what I want.”
