Sancho Hopes To Bring Trophies To Old Trafford

Manchester United summer signing, Jadon Sancho has expressed his readiness to help the Red Devils get back to winning ways in terms of trophies.

His comments come few days after he signed for Manchester United from the German club, Borussia Dortmund for a fee worth around £73m. The 21-year-old former Manchester City youth player penned a five-year deal with an option of a further year.

Sancho moved to Dortmund in 2017 after failing to break into City’s first team but now hopes to make it in the Red part of Manchester

Despite the presence of many talented players at Manchester United, they have not won a trophy since 2017 after winning the Europa League, the last Premier League they won was during Alex Ferguson departure season eight years ago.

“It’s an honour. Growing up, Manchester United was one of the biggest clubs that everyone knows, and of course, there is also all the trophies they’ve won,” Sancho said in his interview.

“That’s one of the reasons why I came to Manchester because I can see the development that’s going on here and I want to be a part of it, especially because it’s such an iconic club and being part of it is kind of a dream come true.”

No doubt that the talented forward has gathered a plethora of experience in playing at the highest level including the Champions League and Bundesliga for four years, this gives him the right amount of development he would need to fit into the squad.

“It helped me grow as a player and I had the experience of playing in the Champions League and getting the feel of big games,” Sancho said.

“I feel like I did well in those big games and now I’m ready for a new challenge and a bigger step.

“I’m eager to win and determined to get trophies, goals and assists and a bit of skill here and there”.

Sancho’s move to United came after many attempts to land him failed due to the heavy asking price earlier demanded from Dortmund. The deal was announced during the Euro 2020 campaign when Sancho was with the rest of the England squad.

Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also described the 21-year-old as “untapped talent” and gushed praises on the forward. He’s optimistic that Sancho would bring in a lot of changes to the team.

Despite the presence of players like Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood and a host of others, United haven’t won a trophy in four years. Do you think Sancho can help bring in titles this new season and change the narrative? Let us know in the comment section.
