The search for a prolific striker by Chelsea continues as they plan to lunch a surprise bid for Bayern Munich forward, Robert Lewandowski.
According to The Sun, Thomas Tuchel is an admirer of the Poland international and with the intent of further revamping the attacking options at his disposal, Tuchel is planning a swoop for the Bayern forward as a possible alternative to Erling Haaland.
‘Chelsea face a fight on their hands to bring Bayern to the negotiating table for the Poland international,’ the report states in part.
‘Lewandowski is keen for one last adventure before his illustrious career ends and would relish a move to the Premier League.’
The Poland and Bayern Munich striker is known for his goal-scoring skills and prowess which made him break Gerd Muller’s long-standing record for most Bundesliga goals in a single campaign. He scored 48 goals in 40 games for Bayern Munich in the 2020/2021 campaign.
It is believed that his contract will expire in the summer of 2023 and the Germans are placing a value believed to be in the region of £50million.
The 32-year-old striker is considered one of the best strikers of his generation and his transfer speculation has nothing to do with his age.
According to new Bayern CEO, Oliver Kahn, the asking price for the striker cannot be placed on a high side at the moment;
“A package that costs as we heard over €100million is unimaginable for FC Bayern at the moment. Robert Lewandowski still has a two-year contract here. His performances cannot be questioned.
“Just for that, we don’t have to think about Haaland today. Robert can keep this level for a few more years,” He said earlier in the year.

With this in mind, it looks like the Germans may not allow him to leave this summer considering the fact that he’s very prolific and ruthless in front of goal plus, the club cannot think about Haaland at the moment. If they allow Lewandowski to leave, they will have to secure his replacement immediately.
If a deal could materialize between Chelsea and Bayern for the striker, it is not surprising to say that Chelsea will start scoring goals for fun again considering how they suffered for goals last season even with the presence of Werner, Giroud and Abraham.
There will also be healthy competition among the strikers as they will be working hard to keep their position in the team.
But the big question now is, will Bayern allow Lewandowski to leave for Chelsea this summer? Let us know in the comment section.
