In Focus: Who Will Win The 2021/22 Premier League Season

Preseason is underway and in barely a month, the 2021/22 Premier League season will begin. Which clubs have what it takes?

First a trip down memory lane to how last season unfolded. Manchester City were crowned winners of the 2020/21 season despite being written off by a few at the beginning of the season.

City struggled for some months before gathering the momentum needed for a title charge. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s title pursuit was cut short with first the injury to Virgil van Dijk and then the injury to a number of other important players.

Chelsea also struggled, despite signing players worth over 200 million Euros. Meanwhile, Jose Mourinho’s Spurs and a few other clubs rose to the top of the table but didn’t have the required momentum to remain top.

Another season is here, who are the favourites? Let’s take a look at potential winners of the Premier League, shall we?

Manchester City

The Champions League finalists have won three of the last four Premier League titles, finishing second when they didn’t win it. With a tactical coach in the person of Pep Guardiola, world-class players and a seemingly unending financial arsenal, they are certainly favourites to retain the Premier League this season.

Chelsea

The European Champions are a perfect example of the perfect blend of youth and experience. Chelsea have the Supercup and Club World Cup trophies to look forward to during the course of the season.

Since the change of managers, Thomas Tuchel and his boys have pulled many surprises from their hat and they are certainly ones to consider as title contenders.

With an experienced coach, young, hungry players and an ever-ambitious owner, they can certainly go all the way.

Liverpool

They are the only club to win the title other than Manchester City in the last four seasons. After dominating the Premier League two seasons ago, they fell apart last season, relinquishing their Anfield unbeaten run and a poor title defence no thanks due to injury.

On the bright side, their reliable defenders Van Dijk and Joe Gomez are reportedly back in training and with a few recruitments, the Reds could certainly give other contenders a run for their money.

Manchester United

United have certainly improved since signing Portuguese sensation Bruno Fernandes. They, however, have an unfortunate habit of exiting competitions at the semifinal stages.

They also lost the Europa league to Villarreal via penalties, but with the addition of English sensation Jadon Sancho and possible recruitments to midfield and defence, maybe Manchester United can become title contenders.
