In Focus: Who Will Win The 2021/22 La Liga Title

The La Liga season is fast approaching and while clubs are flexing their muscles in the transfer market, one question remains at the back of the minds of fans, “Who will win the 2021/22 La Liga title?”

Let’s take a look at the potential candidates for the La Liga title:

Barcelona

Having finished poorly at the end of the previous campaign, Barcelona have certainly flashed warning signs to other teams with the addition of high profile signings early in the transfer window.

The recruitment of Netherlands star, Memphis Depay, Spanish youngster, Eric Garcia and Lionel Messi’s International teammate and Copa America winner, Sergio Aguero could not have gone unnoticed by rivals.

Barcelona’s all-time leading goalscorer, Lionel Messi is currently a free agent, but a potential contract extension seems inevitable. Barcelona already look stronger with the signings of these recruits, and further additions also seem likely.

Barcelona will certainly be a team to beat in the forthcoming La Liga campaign.

Real Madrid

Los Blancos were in hot pursuit of their local neighbours, Atletico Madrid for the La Liga title last season. The title chase went down the wire but Atleti eventually claimed the title on the last matchday.

Real Madrid have been boosted by the return of former boss, Carlo Ancelotti. Ancelotti won the Champions League, Copa del Rey, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup across his two-season spell at the club.

The Italian tactician has won 20 trophies as a manager and is one of the most experienced coaches in the world. Ancelotti has won at least a trophy across Europe’s top five leagues. With the change of management, Real Madrid are certainly going to give clubs a run for their money.

Atletico Madrid

Atletico will begin the La Liga campaign as defending champions. Athletico were the team to beat in the league last season. They did so with Uruguayan striker, Luis Suarez, scoring a lot of goals.

Atletico’s midfield has also been boosted by the addition of Copa America winner, Rodrigo de Paul from Udinese. With Argentine tactician, Diego Simeone still at the helm, Atletico can go all the way and mount a successful title defence.

Sevilla

Sevilla finished fourth in the league last season. The side has shown improvement since the appointment of Spanish coach, Julen Lopetegui in June 2019. Sevilla have since made the top four and won the Europa League.

Sevilla have also become a defensive powerhouse and with a few key additions to bolster the squad, the La Liga title could be lifted in Seville.

Who will win the 2021/22 La Liga title? Just keep your fingers crossed and remember, it’s not football, it’s LaLiga.
