Chelsea To Look Elsewhere If Erling Haaland Deal Fails

Chelsea will likely switch their interest elsewhere should they fail to land Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland, according to reports.

The Blues have been linked to the Norweigian striker for some time now and it looks like a deal may not materialize as the Bundesliga club are bent on keeping their star forward.

A source close to the deal was quoted as saying:

“Chelsea are trying but it is going to be very difficult, at the moment it looks like mission impossible.

“It is unlikely but that doesn’t mean it can’t happen.’

The source went further to also talk about the chances of either Tottenham striker Harry Kane or Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku leaving their respective clubs this season.

“Chelsea were previously considering a move for former striker Lukaku but the Belgian is keen on staying at Inter Milan,” added the report in The Sun.

“The Nerazzurri were expected to sell players due to financial fair play concerns but Achraf Hakimi’s sale has reportedly resolved that issue.

“Meanwhile Spurs superstar Kane is unlikely to be allowed to make the move across London to join rivals, Chelsea,’ he added.

Despite scoring the most goals and providing the most assists in the Premier League last season, Kane saw his side fail to win a single trophy and also fail to qualify for the Champions League. They did however qualify for the European Conference League. 

Giving the managerial change at Inter, it also seems unlikely Lukaku can be priced away from the Serie A champions at the moment.

New head coach, Simone Inzaghi has been quite vocal about Lukaku being an integral part of his plans. The striker has also stated he would like to remain in Italy. 

The 43-year-old is reportedly getting set to build his team around the Belgian forward in preparation for their title defence next season.
