The transfer window is heating up and Ligue 1 giants PSG have taken it by storm. The PSG summer signings have been impressive and catchy and you can’t help but wonder what they would bring to the side.
PSG have added Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi and Gini Wijnaldum to their squad. They are looking to come back stronger next season after a somewhat average showing as per their standard.
After years of domination, they were knocked off their perch by rivals Lille who won the Ligue 1 title. In Europe, PSG couldn’t go the distance either, falling short once again on the big stage. They were defeated home and away by Manchester City in the semifinals to end their quest for that elusive European trophy.
It wasn’t a bad season overall though as Les Parisiens won two domestic trophies; the Coupe de France and Trophée des Champions. However, where the pain lies is that they missed out on the major trophies most especially the Champions League which they rested their star players severally for at the expense of their league matches which made them trail behind, giving the other Ligue 1 teams an advantage.
Therefore this season PSG want to make a statement, which is the reason why they have signed high profile players and big names in the game. Let’s have an in-depth look at some of the PSG summer signings so far:
Georginio Wijnaldum
The former Liverpool player is a very versatile player and was integral for Liverpool during their European success in the Champions League 2019/2020 season. He was also an integral part of the Liverpool Premier League title-winning squad.
Wijnaldum has proven to be reliable and not prone to injuries. Last season he started 34 out of 36 league games for Liverpool, featuring as a substitute in the other two. The Netherlands captain is a very relentless player and hardly shows any sign of fatigue in his games and he rarely gets injured too.
With Wijnaldum, PSG will have quality and consistency in their midfield which they lack at the moment and it was the reason why they doubled Barcelona intended wage offer for him.
Achraf Hakimi
Before his move to PSG, Hakimi was initially loaned to Borussia Dortmund from his parent club Real Madrid and after his spell with Borussia Dortmund, he was signed by Italian champions Inter Milan because of how impressive he was.
The Morocco international is regarded by many to be among the best right-backs in Europe. He impressed during his loan at Borussia Dortmund and he was also an integral part of Serie A title-winning team Inter Milan last season.
Hakimi joined the French side on a staggering €70m deal. It was a deal PSG saw as a no-brainer giving what the player has to offer. Goals and assist, he is like a full package and will be a great signing for any club in Europe.

Sergio Ramos
Despite being 34 years old, Sergio Ramos is still regarded among the best defenders in the world today. He captained Real Madrid to glory dominating Europe for years. He is a very decorated defender for both club and country and even as a defender Sergio Ramos has over a century of goals to his name. Massive!
Sergio Ramos is a leader and his mere presence at the back of the defense is a plus for any team because he commands the defence well. PSG signing Sergio Ramos for free is good business by the club recruiting team.
Gianluigi Donnarumma
The 22-year-old has great potential for his age accompanied with his physique and height which is a typical quality for a modern goalkeeper. Donnarumma also has a strong mentality. He was a huge part of AC Milan’s title charge last season and he also impressed a lot in the EUROs for Italy.
The Italian became the first goalkeeper to win the Player of the tournament in the EUROs after handing Italy the trophy with his penalty shoot-out heroics at the final.
He joins PSG for free after unfruitful efforts by AC Milan to keep him. He was wanted by a host of clubs across Europe but PSG offered the best deal. The Ligue 1 giants signing Donnarumma despite having Keylor Navas goes a long way to show the club’s seriousness to make a statement in Europe.
PSG have been hoping to get their hands on the Champions League trophy, but with this great summer transfer they are having and with their current crop of star players, they are in contention for the silverware.
