Atlético Madrid have announced the signing of Rodrigo De Paul from Udinese for a reported fee of around €35m. He’s put pen to paper on a 5-year contract.
The highly rated midfielder was integral for Udinese last season and also for Argentina in the just concluded Copa America.
The 27-year-old midfielder started four of Argentina’s seven games. He provided the assist for the winning goal and sole goal of the final by teammate Angel Di Maria.
Speaking on his move to join the Spanish champions, De Paul said: “I’m very happy, I’m going to join the champion of La Liga and I’m conscious of the responsibility it carries. It is a big step in my football career.
“Moreover, because of the timing, just after winning the Copa America… this fills me with strength to meet all expectations.
“I’m a football enthusiast, and because of my experience in Spanish football, I know Atletico Madrid very well.”

An official announcement was all that was left for the signing of the Argentine as Atleti had already agreed a deal in principle with Udinese.
Both parties had opted to wait till after the Copa America to make the announcement.
De Paul began his career at Racing before moving to Valencia in 2014. He rejoined Racing in 2016 before making the move to play for Udinese.
De Paul scored 34 goals and provided 36 assists in 184 appearances for Udinese.
