Media Hype And Pressure To Win Might Cost England In Euro Finals

England face Italy in the 2020 Euro finals which will be played at Wembley stadium on Sunday July 11th.

The Three Lions appear to be the favourites to get the win over the Azzurri given that they play on home soil but other stats swing in their favour as well.

England came out top in the group stages winning all three of their matches with no goal conceded.

They defeated Ukraine in the quarter finals and went on to marginally edge out Denmark in one of the most controversial semi finals in the history of the Euros.

The question in the minds of everyone is ‘Can this England squad win the Euro 2020’?

This current England team no doubt boasts of world class players like Harry Kane, Luke Shaw, Raheem Sterling and Harry Maguire, who have been exceptional through out the tournament.

However, apart from Germany who were not really at their best this year, England have not come up against any real treat so far.

They haven’t been exceptional in their games either and you can dare say they’ve been lucky to have gotten to the finals given the way they won the semi finals.

Italy pose the biggest threat to the Three Lions so far this campaign. Coincidentally they are also the final test.

As we’ve seen from England’s previous matches, it’ll take a whole lot more than media hype to beat this Italy team.

It won’t depend on how many chants of ‘It’s coming home’ gets chanted but solely about what the England players bring to the pitch.

The fact that England have got a lot at stake might also be their biggest downfall. They haven’t won any major tournament for over five decades and the pressure is starting to mount.

Do they have what it takes to cope with the pressure? Their best bet is to ignore all the media hype and bring it all to the pitch if they want to win the Euro 2020.
