Pundit Digest: Harry Kane Asks To Leave, Ronaldo Chooses Next GOAT, Hazard + More

Welcome to another episode of Pundit Daily Digest where we bring you a recap of the most newsworthy gist around the world.

Here are the five things you should catch up on before you start your day:

1. Harry Kane asks to leave Spurs

According to reports, Tottenham forward Harry Kane has expressed his desire to leave the club.

His decision is speculated to be stemming from the club’s lack of competitive structure compared to their counterparts.

Despite leading both the goals and assists charts this season, the 27-year-old has seen his side miss out on a chance at a Champions League spot.

He has also never won a trophy at Spurs despite being a multiple Premier League golden boot winner. Kane was recently awarded the Best Player in London Award.

2. Ronaldo chooses between Mbappe and Haaland

Cristiano Ronaldo was placed on a hot spot when he was asked which one of Kylian Mbappe or Haaland did he think would be the next best player.

Ronaldo was asked the question during his unveiling as Livescore’s Official Global Brand Ambassador.

The 36-year-old admitted that they were both good young players with talent but also listed the criteria they would have to achieve to be considered great players.

3. Guardiola hints at summer overhaul

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hinted that some players will leave the club this summer.

After clinching the Premier League title and League Cup with the club, the Catalan could cap a remarkable season with a Champions League trophy.

He has however stated that some players are unhappy with the limited roles they have played this season and that the club will hold talks with them at the end of the season. Click here to read his full interview.

4. Hazard named in Belgium squad despite injuries

Real Madrid midfielder Eden Hazard has been named in Belgium’s squad for Euro 2020 despite being laden with injuries this season.

The former Chelsea man has been a shadow of himself since his big-money move to the Spanish giants in 2019, with persistent injuries supposedly holding him back.

However, Hazard recently returned to action with Los Blancos after a muscle issue and is now considered fit enough to be involved with his country in the Euros on June 11.

Hazard’s brother Thorgan Hazard and Real Madrid team-mate Thibaut Courtois also made the cut.

Belgium’s all-time leading scorer Romelu Lukaku was also on the list.

Meanwhile, nine Premier League players were also called up, including Leicester trio Timothy Castagne, Youri Tielemans, Dennis Praet, and Man City’s Kevin De Bruyne.

5. Keller resigns as German FA president

Fritz Keller has resigned as president of the German Football Association (DFB) after Nazi comments.

Keller has been president for two years after being elected unopposed in 2019. However, he has announced that he would be stepping down amid a series of backlash for his controversial statements directed towards vice president Rainer Koch in April.

The 64-year-old compared Koch to infamous Nazi judge Roland Freisler during a board meeting. Following the remarks, the country’s football chiefs went into a secret ballot in which they declared a vote of no confidence in his leadership.

On Monday, he announced that he takes full responsibility of his comments and has decided to step down.
